Hi, I recently came across Samih al-Qasim's poetry and this particular poem really intrigued me, however I am completely oblivious to its context. Could you please explain what it intends to imply?

The world of wall clocks is older than what most of us think. Initial wall clocks were known as cartel clocks which had metal casts on beautiful wooden frames.
